Some Google Pixel owners report camera issues

Some owners of previous generation Pixel phones have serious problems with their cameras. Android Police recently noticed an increase in one-star Play Store reviews for the camera app used by the Pixel, while frustrated owners say the camera often crashes when opened or no longer works at all. A topic in Google’s Pixel Support Forum contains similar complaints. It seems that the Pixel 2 XL is mostly quoted to experience the problem, but some posters say that they have problems with such recent devices as the 3 or 4A.

This is not a completely new issue. Android Police has been watching mostly camera issues that have plagued Pixel 2 phones over the past year, noting that more devices are now affected. Owners say that Google’s proposed fixes do not fix the problem and that they experience the same problem when using third-party camera applications. The Pixel 2 series recently received its latest security update, but there is no logical reason why the camera should no longer function.

This is an unfortunate mistake, especially considering that many people have chosen a Pixel phone because of the high quality camera. While Pixel’s image quality has recently fallen under other flagship competition, budget devices like the 4A and 4A 5G offer some of the best cameras in their class. But the best camera is the one that keeps working when you need it, so we hope Google addresses these user issues. We have contacted Google to confirm the problem and see if there is a solution. We will keep this article up to date with any information we receive.
