Some Bethesda games now on Xbox Game Pass get increased frame rate on Xbox Series X / S

Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass platform just got a big boost with the addition of 20 new Bethesda Softworks titles starting today, and now a quarter of these games will get performance enhancements on the next generation of Xbox consoles in an upcoming update. The performance increases are in the frame rate thanks to an appropriately named new feature that Microsoft announced last month called FPS Boost, which can roughly double the frame rate of older games using new Xbox hardware without developers having to do any craft.

The games that will feature performance enhancements with a frame rate of up to 60 frames per second include Arkane Studios’ Dishonored: Definitive Edition and Prey and Bethesda Game Studios’ The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Outcome 4, en Dropout 76.

The announcement was made on Friday during a live YouTube stream between Xbox Live Programming Director Larry Hryb (aka “Major Nelson”) and Jeff Rubenstein, chief commissioner, in which Rubenstein discusses the benefits of the new Xbox Series X / S for parents Bethesda titles may hold. . While the games are now available, the FPS Boost mode has not been activated yet, but Microsoft plans to add it soon as an optional link.

Microsoft said in its announcement yesterday that a handful of these games will also benefit from FPS Boost on Xbox Series X / S, although it did not specify at the time. It has also been said that 16 of the 20 Bethesda games coming to Xbox Game Pass will be available on PC and xCloud, in addition to Xbox consoles. You can find here a list of which platforms which games are available.
