Season 2 of TNTs Snowpiercer pulled out of the proverbial station this Monday night and wasted no time teasing new inter-train dynamics while the smallest hint of a major development.
Caught and clamped by the staged supply train Big Alice, the 994 car-strong Snowpiercer, who has a monkey of 40 cars on his back. Melanie’s non-dead daughter, Alex, uncovered the claims and issued a “shopping list” (food, beer, books, chickens, and Mr. Wilford’s favorite cookie, etc.) which was provided by Andre & Co. had to be filled so that her boss would not disconnect the trains. and let Snowpiercer die in the frozen water.
Meanwhile, Melanie – who was thrown from the train when we last agreed – crawled under the clutch and severed Big Alice’s connection to Snowpiercer’s systems. After a giant of a mutant dragged away their demanded food from Big Alice, Big Alice shot up its engines and the trains began to move. Melanie shoots between two wheels in the drifts along the track, where she realizes that her suit has been punctured and that she is freezing to death. As she lay there, a snowflake floated on the face of her helmet. This is a big an agreement we were reminded of when she reported to Ben because the world was made too cold for it to even snow. So … the frozen earth begins to thaw? Before boarding the accelerated train, Mel scooped up a bottle of freshly fallen white stuff.
Melanie was greeted aboard Big Alice by Kevin, a bitter former colleague who locked her up with a cattle producer and then took her to Mr.’s suite. Wilford led, where she was also reunited with his dog, Jupiter. Melanie demanded Wilford tell everything – how Big Alice waited for his moment to jump, with a shortcut to the test track in the Rocky Mountains before Snowpiercer was intercepted in Chicago. Wilford, however, wants only one thing: the ‘keys’ to Snowpiercer. And if he does not get it, he will ‘drop anchor’ and bring his old train to a halt.
Just then Alex arrives, and while Melanie is stunned and delighted to see her daughter alive, Alex is ‘clearly overwhelmed’. Melanie explains how she sent people to get Alex, grandma and grandpa, but they never came back. However, Alex only cares about judging Wilford from the “brokenness” of a situation in the other train, including how someone named Layton is in charge (with the help of “that blonde in the household”) and how she wears no jackets have not seen. Then she lets Kevin take her mother to the brig.
Andre, meanwhile, is researching the new world order and making sure enough people pay attention to the tail, which is now a ‘borderland’. During a board meeting in the Night Car, Ruth suggests that Melanie ‘work things out with Wilford’, but Andre insists: ‘A parasite with 40 cars does not call the shots around here’ – and that, even though he’s tired of the revolution just fought, they must hit Big Alice before they hit we. “After the meeting, some of Zarah’s tails bulge about selling Josie, but Andre breaks things down, during which it appears that Zarah is pregnant with his child. Ruth is a bit tickled by the idea of having a baby born on Snowpiercer (and the “hope” it brings), so she sets up the future parents safely in a first-class home evacuated by an old couple which Cyanide wants to get out of the revolution. At Ruth’s urging, Andre addresses the train via the PA system and says that, given the new developments, they should postpone their democracy experiment and “postpone martial law until further notice.”
Alex visits Melanie in the brig and says that she “remembers less and less of the old world”. She explains how grandma and grandpa would not leave with the men Melanie sent, and Alex did not want to leave them behind. Alex then asks her mother about the snow monster in her snow suit. Melanie claims that she was simply curious because she had not been off the train for seven years, but Alex feels that she is being lied to. Melanie is led to Big Alice’s temporary medical clinic, where some daffy doctors tend to freeze a little by using what they call Goop, a ‘breakthrough’ synthetic tissue ointment that heals and leaves no scar.
Meanwhile, Pike and a counterpart to Big Alice start on the other side of the door on Snowpiercer – fresh food, for example, for a QP of ‘Amazing Alice’ marijuana. Andre finally (and quite literally) catch the wind that goes on, but see chance. He lets Pike start another trade, except this time when the door unlocks, a small army of Snowpiercer passengers (Snow-men?) Knock it open and bump it before storming the other train. Andre, Till et al make rapid progress through the first few cars, only to stop cold through the mutated mountain of man, which is somehow impenetrable to the sub-zero outdoor air with which he begins to shoot the attackers.
Wilford, fresh from the bath and in the middle of a meal with Melanie, gets the wind of the invasion, but mocks the plan to hold Kevin, of all people, hostage in exchange for Melanie. He then tells Melanie about how, at the age of 17, she ‘fixed tractors on a farm’ when he lifted her out of ‘pig s – t’ and invited her to help him build this new world. He drags Melanie to the engine, and orders Alex to bring the trains to a halt. He threatens to disconnect the trains and pull Big Alice away unless Melanie gets Layton to surrender. When Wilford gives the order, Melanie tells Alex not to comply and says, ‘a whole world will die. You do not want it on the conscience. ”
Undone, Alex goes on and turns the switch … and it causes an explosion train at the clutch. As we saw earlier, Melanie planted a tough bomb when she was outside, and now Alex Big Alice can not disconnect from Snowpiercer. The trains are permanent attached. Admittedly impressed by her mother, Alex asks Wilford, “She has you,” and he reluctantly instructs the trains to move again – while Andre on board Snowpiercer remarks: “It’s going to be a long, cold war.”
