DENVER (CBS4) We have a very cold Saturday on the way to eastern Colorado and believe that another surge of North Pole air will push Valentine’s Day into the plains. It maintains temperatures throughout the weekend of about 10 degrees or less for most places along and east of Interstate 25.
The map below shows the highest point of potential high temperatures today in the Denver subway. This card is generous. In fact, we can not even get it hot. Some places may stay below 5 degrees.
As we move through Saturday afternoon, snow will develop along the Front Range as a storm system moves from the western United States. Snow is expected to last overnight until Sunday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisory advice for the entire eastern Colorado, including the entire Interstate 25 urban corridor. We expect a very light and soft snowfall with most of the subway Denver possibly coming in the 3-6 inch range.
As a second cold arrives, the overnight Sunday morning will fall well below zero. Just add a slight breeze, and we can see that the cooling of the wind drops in the -20 to -30 degrees.
It’s crucial that you protect people, pets and pipes this weekend. Large animals that cannot enter need solid shelter and water that will not freeze.
Valentine’s Day becomes the coldest ever recorded in the Denver climate record as high temperatures struggle to reach between 0 and 5 degrees. By Sunday evening and early Monday we could see temperatures of -20 ° C in some areas where we were partly clearing. If we stay cloudy, the layers will probably be within -6 to -12 degrees.
