FORECAST SUMMARY
It was a cold February day again on Wednesday, but for a change there were no snowflakes, at least not before we arrived at night. Once rolling around last night, another round of accumulating snow moved through Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This time the snow was more stable the further south one traveled, and while many of us picked up a layer of plume to an inch or two of fluffy snow, some higher amounts in southern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and South. -Jersey appeared. It is these southern areas that are likely to have the most problems this morning.
Any snow ends early, and most of the day should be dry, followed by a flake-free Friday. As has been the case most of February so far, the flakes are of short duration. Sure enough, another round of snow or a winter mix is expected by the middle of the weekend, which is likely to return to the northern parts again.
After that, it’s next Tuesday that our next storm is likely to bring, this time more rainfall, icy rain and rain rather than snow. But as has been the case all month, let’s focus on one winter weather at a time. Given the continued active and winter weather pattern, colder temperatures remain in force for the foreseeable future, with no sustained thaws in sight.
DETAILED FORECAST
TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY

Snow will gradually decrease and end from northwest to southeast as we get into the morning rush today. The snow will continue the longest near the I-95 corridor, after which it can finally be done for good until late in the morning.
Although the snow has to be chased by many people in the morning, we still have to consider slippery places because of the freshly fallen snow, certainly on anything untreated, elevated surfaces, bridges and trespasses.
After the snow has ended, clouds hang out most of the day, but a hint of sunshine is not out of the question. The rest of the day will then be a cold but also drier one, with highs around freezing.
Do not expect a lot of melting with the clouds and near freezing rates, but the road conditions will improve significantly.
A second disturbance tonight and Friday must dive far enough south to no longer have an impact on us again. So just expect a changeable cloudy sky for tonight with lows dropping in the upper teens).
Then you can expect more sunshine mixed with clouds for Friday to end the week. Despite some sun, the cold air remains firmly in place, with Friday’s highs likely in the upper 20s.
THE WEEKEND
The weekend will probably start with a little sunshine early on Saturday and end with a little sunshine later on Sunday, but in between another fast moving storm will once again bring a round of winter weather on our way for the middle of the weekend.
In areas north and west of the Lehigh Valley it mostly looks like snow, while areas south and east can handle snow, a wintry mix and ordinary rain as you travel closer to the shore. An accumulation of snow, ice and sleet is possible with this feature for late Saturday and especially Saturday night.
EARLY NEXT WEEK
Monday looks cold and dry, a brief break between systems. But another storm, possibly more significant, could affect the area Tuesday through Wednesday.
This one has more snow and icy rain so far this month than any other storm, so the potential for a wintry mix and some ice should be closely monitored. Ordinary rain can also apply to some, especially the further south and east you travel.
