“Saturday Night Live” drove the Biden government away in its first installment since the inauguration – and the omission did not go unnoticed by some viewers.
The sketch did not appear Saturday night from President Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris, but rather to mock controversial Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the vaccination of COVID-19 and the GameStop saga.
“Why does SNL not make ANY sketches about Biden ???” one person grabbed on Twitter.
Another viewer wrote: “Disappointed, I expected a stronger and funny episode. As Trump leaves, is Biden inauguration and was it the first episode of the new year? ”
The show consistently took advantage of Alec Baldwin’s impression of former President Donald Trump during his term and also cheated Joe Biden during the 2020 election.
After a month-long hiatus, however, some were surprised not to see a Biden impression on screen.
“I really wanted SNL to cover Biden’s inauguration …” wrote one viewer.
Lorraine Ali, the Los Angeles Times’ TV critic, noted that SNL “felt suddenly lost” without Trump and that the program “struggled to find its footing.”
