Slow-moving snowstorm strikes the Middle East like Mid-Atlantic, northeastern brackets

A slow-moving winter storm is turning over the Midwest before turning along the Mid-Atlantic direction to New England, bringing some feet of snow in some parts of the country.

The storm started in California, and it brought rare snow in some parts of the state before it left over the central plains. The system gained strength as it moved across the country and eventually dropped snow over Chicago and the Ohio Valley.

According to Accuweather, Sunday morning saw about 7 inches of snow. Detroit and Cleveland saw a little less than six inches, and more came over the day.

Sunday is mixed precipitation, with rain and thunderstorms in the south before the storm turns north and turns northeast into heavy snow.

Snow falls between 6-12 inches of snow, and some lands in the northeast could possibly build up more than a foot.

The storm is expected to weaken over the Middle East on Sunday night, and rain in the Southeast will subside abroad by Monday morning.
