Let’s start our morning to heaven: NASA’s Perseverance Rover has traveled 293 million miles to our twin red planet, Mars, over the past seven months. It is scheduled to touch Mars’ dusty surface around 12:55 PST inside the Jezero crater. It will apparently take seven minutes before the $ 2.4 billion rover completes the landing process, which NASA called ‘seven minutes of terror’. Once landed (fingers crossed), perseverance will search for signs of microbes, collect rocks in hopes of finding ‘biosignatures’ and carry a mini-helicopter for NASA to fly around for the first controlled flight on another planet. The live broadcast starts at 11:15!

Fishing boat 356 feet in Tacoma harbor it erupted in flames last night: Firefighters battled the fire on the Aleutian Falcon for several hours and extinguished most of the fire by 5:15 p.m. Officials were concerned about the reported diesel and 10,000 pounds of ammonia on board the ship that caught fire, which fortunately was not done. No injuries were reported.

Malia Obama and Donald Glover join forces: The eldest Obama daughter, according to Vulture, got a writing role on one of Glover’s future untitled projects. This news comes after Glover believes a eight digits overall multi-year agreement with Amazon Studios. Of course, the Biden cultural era would be shaped by an Obama.

Texas still suffers from extreme winter weather: Half a million people are still without power in the Lone Star state. Many Texans were sent boiling water notices after water systems across the state became paralyzed due to the loss of power. Incredibly, there are still days of relief, as some resort to burning furniture to stay warm and try to equip themselves for another winter storm.

And Senator Ted Cruz? He’s a Cancun! Although his office has not yet responded to several requests for comment, AP has confirmed that images of the worm senator traveling to warmer climates were taken while Texas was shivering in the cold. He is pathetic!

Not the turtles! Volunteers in Texas are rescuing thousands of “cold-stunned” turtles as the region was hit by a historic winter storm last week. Sea Turtle, Inc., the organization behind the rescue effort, had to creative with housing, to keep these soft marine animals warm by placing them in plastic basins, sails and boxes.

Residents of Point Roberts: It will no longer be necessary to show a negative COVID-19 test if you travel to Canada for essential services, says Daddy Inslee.

Seattle police released body footage of Tuesday’s shooting: Here we are again. Two nights ago, SPD shot dead a man in a crisis near the waterfront on Alaskan Road. The victim struck a knife and threatened to cut his own throat. The SPD claims that the police in Port of Seattle tried to use a less lethal tool, but the device was ‘ineffective’ – although it looked at the footage, it is unclear which tool was used. With the knife in hand, the victim approached a SPD police officer and asked him to do so and please kill me before the officer shot and killed him. You can watch the disturbing video here, but be warned, it’s graphic.

Facebook is blocking Australian users from sharing or viewing news content on its platform, causing a stir: All the big and local news sales were blocked from the social media website on Thursday morning. The drastic move is in response to a proposed law that would make tech giants pay for news content on their platforms. While goblins like Facebook and Google claim it is unfairly punishing them, lawmakers believe the proposed bill will level the playing field for smaller publishers.

Naomi Osaka beat Serena Williams 6-4, 6-3 at the Australian Open: I do not really care about sports, but I wish both of these icons had to do it somehow win.

OK, ugh, did anyone else see the original preview of the Cruella de Vil? Others have rightly pointed out that Disney’s Cruella Emma Stone as the eponymous character in the lead roles feels like a little Joker meets girlboss. My first thought is that Stone’s accent reminds me of Anne Hathaway, which is not a compliment!

The Seattle Fire Department has been charged in the middle of the case with Sawant email: Andrew Finseth is charged with second-degree identity theft and two counts of hacking, says CHS Blog. Finseth was arrested Friday for allegedly using the email of another firefighter to send threatening emails to Councilman Sawant. He has yet to plead guilty in the case.

Another 861,000 Americans applied for unemployment last week: It is a reflection of our pandemic-driven labor market, and it is 100,000 demands more than economists had predicted and not significantly improved in months. In addition, 516,299 Americans filed claims through the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program, which raised the total initial claims to 1.4 million last week. Continued claims for unemployment amount to 4.5 million.

Seattle will pay $ 10,000 in removing the camp: To Ada Yeager, who sued the city in federal court in December over his plan to remove her from her tent in Cal Anderson, where she has lived since June. Her lawsuit alleges that “giving, among other things, claims to Yeager and other 48 hours notice to remove their belongings from the park violates their civil rights through” fair seizure and destruction of personal property. Sydney Brownstone has more on the matter Seattle Times.

And now for the weather: More rain!

Prince Philip is in hospital: The 99-year-old was admitted as a “precaution” after feeling unwell. Before you ask, it’s probably not COVID.

CNN’s Chris Cuomo can no longer cover his New York government brother Andrew Cuomo: Although the governor appeared early in the pandemic in his brother’s TV program, a CNN spokesman confirmed that Cuomo-on-Cuomo’s coverage ban was back in place.

That said, the Cuomo government is not going so hot right now: Andy and his coronavirus task force are currently being investigated by the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office over his handling of deaths in the COVID-19 nursing home. No allegations of wrongdoing have yet been made, but associates are investigating his delay in the long-term care data on COVID-19 deaths. This is in addition to an attempt in the New York State Assembly to recall Cuomo’s emergency pandemic forces. Do the #Resistance moms think he’s still capable and sexy?

I could not stop laughing at this headline: “Man (32) offered Covid jab because NHS thought he was 6cm tall, giving him a BMI of 28,000.”
