SLO County reports 151 new COVID-19 cases, 1 more death

San Luis Obispo County on Tuesday added 151 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the province’s total to 18,038 confirmed cases on Feb. 2.

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the country increased by one case to a total of 178 deaths.

Health officials say 51 people are currently hospitalized. Another 1,105 people recover at home and health officials say 16,673 people have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County reports that 19 of the 38 licensed and crew member beds in the country are currently occupied. Eleven of them are taken by COVID-19 patients.

Updated reopening statistics were also released on Tuesday and San Luis Obispo County remains firmly in the press level.

Although the province is meeting the positive percentages needed to move to the next level, the province’s adjusted rate has improved only slightly to 22.6 from 23.8 the previous week, still well above the 7% required is to move to the red level.

To be able to move to the next level, the country must remain in the press level for at least three weeks and meet the adjusted business rate of the state and test the positivity criteria.

The location of 68 additional cases is investigated and another six are named as ‘other’, which includes communities with less than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these sites.

Joint COVID-19 testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
