San Luis Obispo County reports the deaths of four more people who had COVID-19.
Public health officials say the patients were between the ages of 70 and 100 years old.
San Luis Obispo County attributed 140 deaths to COVID-19.
The province also added 127 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the province’s total to 16,056 confirmed cases on January 20.
This is the lowest number of daily cases since the beginning of the year. In a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, dr. Penny Borenstein, SLO County Public Health Officer, said that although the country is starting to see a lower number of new cases, it is still very high compared to spring and summer.
She added that almost a quarter of all the provinces’ cases have taken place in the last 14 days.
Health officials say 55 people have been admitted to hospital. Another 2,398 people are recovering and health officials say 13,429 people have recovered.
San Luis Obispo County reports that 18 of the 38 licensed and manned ICU beds in the country are currently occupied. Seven of them are taken by COVID-19 patients.

The location of 84 additional cases is investigated and another nine are mentioned as ‘other’, which includes communities with less than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these sites.
Joint COVID-19 testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
