Sledgehammer Games possibly teased COD 2021 on Twitter

Does Sledgehammer Games make the next Call of Duty? A new tease on Twitter makes fans curious about the developer’s next project.

Black Ops Cold War was a confusing project to develop. Those who follow Call of Duty a lot may know that the 2020 COD title was originally developed by Sledgehammer Games.

But after internal conflicts within the organization, Activision decided to put Treyarch in its place. This left Sledgehammer Games as one of Call of Duty’s co-developers besides Raven Software.

Fans now believe that Sledgehammer Games could be in the driver’s seat again and have already developed COD 2021 or 2022.

Developing Sledgehammer Games Call of Duty 2021?

While many believed that Sledgehammer Games would abandon the Call of Duty cycle, this may not be entirely true. After all, chief operating officer Andy Wilson says Sledgehammer Games hired more than 150 new staff in 2020.

What’s more, a recent tease may have just expired this new year. At the end of 2020, the official Sledgehammer Games Twitter celebrates the following message:

“Turn it off. Turn it on. Let’s try it again. Happy New Year!”

Many fans quickly jumped on the hype bandwagon and saw this post as a confirmation that Sledgehammer COD will continue to develop normally.

Some fans even call for a sequel to Sledgehammer Games’s previous titles. Whether the developer is working on Advanced Warfare 2, another World War II title or a new series remains to be seen.

What’s more, it’s always possible Bad Games simply referred to the best way to fix broken games, rather than returning to the ring. But we have the suspicion that this big rental wave means the company is busy again.

Will the next call of duty be modern warfare 2?

Recently, we see heavy rumors that the Modern Call of Duty will be Modern Warfare 2. This includes Warzone’s final scene that directly teases Modern Warfare 2.

New leaks also indicate that Modern Warfare 2 is the 2021 release, with a development time of 2 years from Infinity Ward. If that turns out to be the case, Sledgehammer Games is likely to work on its 2022 launch.

Modern Warfare 2 leaks for 2021

We hope this is the case, as Call of Duty definitely takes more than a year to develop. Even by combining existing assets and starting with less content, Black Ops Cold War was barely ready to be released.

Only now, with the season 1 mid-season update, are we starting to get the type of content players can expect from a new Call of Duty. And despite that, a new Zombies card will only appear in the Cold War Season 2.

Speaking of Sledgehammer Games, players can now get a real Sledgehammer in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. However, we imagine that despite remarkable timing, it is not a scourge for Sledgehammer Games making COD 2021.
