The moderate transmission level for COVID-19 has weakened some health constraints.

The two largest provinces of the state have been at the high level since last year. As of Thursday, there are now 11 Utah counties under the moderate designation.

The Utah Department of Health allows provinces to move to the moderate level when, by other measures, the 7-day average positive percentage falls below 10 percent. Utah’s average 7-day positive average was 10.2 percent on Wednesday.

The moderate level allows for social gatherings for up to 25 people, an increase of the ten allowed under the high-level restrictions.

Even below the moderate level, masks must still be worn inside and out if residents cannot take social distance.
