Slay the Spire will be turned into a board game, Kickstarter coming this spring

Kill the Spire, the hit single player digital card game, is being developed as a collaborative card game on the tabletop. There’s a crowdfunding campaign for this spring on Kickstarter, but no price or delivery date has been announced. Interested parties are asked to sign up to be notified as soon as the campaign starts.

Kill the Spire launched an early access to Steam in 2018, where it almost immediately developed a rabies. The game has finally come to modern consoles and iOS. An Android version is also underway. The roguelike dungeon-adventure adventure uses the same kind of game mechanics that collectible card games like Magic: The Gathering so addictive. Thousands of players have sunk into it many thousands of hours over the years. Meanwhile, the game received a lot of praise – also here on Polygon.

‘Mastery Kill the Spire does not come by learning the systems of the game, ”we wrote Jeff Ramos in his 2019 review,“ but rather by breaking down my assumptions about how it all works. ”

How will a digital game based on the conventions of table games then be brought back to become a physical game? We will have to wait until the campaign starts in the spring. One idea might be the developer’s previous title, a game called Empire: the battle.

In the end, we only know two things. First the final Kill the Spire card game can accommodate up to four players. Second, like many of the best games that appeared in 2020, it will also include a single-player mode – just like the original.
