Skyblivion, The Oblivion Remake In Skyrim’s Engine, Shows Early Game

Skyblivion is a fan project to recreate Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion in the Skyrim Engine. The developer team shared an update.

Skyrim mods have become almost their own genre of games and general entertainment. While some mods work after improve the game in general, other mods only want to see how Skyrim burns. Mods, however, are not the only thing Skyrim offers; the engine of the game also produced a number of remasters, remakes and even completely different games.

One such ambitious trailer project is called Skyblivion, an attempt to recreate the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion using the Skyrim engine. The developer group is working on a volunteer-based system and is currently transferring and rebuilding Cyrodiil with all of its quests, locations, and characters to Skyrim and Skyrim: Special Edition. ‘The team has been working on the project for almost 8 years now.

In a recent update on development progress, the Skyblivion team released a video showing the mud’s environments and search system. The video shows us how impressive the environment looks. The showcase takes us on a journey across the Gerald Mountains, the Gold Coast, the Kolovian Highlands, the Heartlands, the Nibenay Basin and Valley and the Blackwood Swamp.

“Although it’s not quite done yet, we’re getting closer to completing the outside world,” the narrator said in the video update. The oblivion is littered with 2663 interiors, and the developer team aims to recreate each one. The team working on these interiors is currently focused on all caves, mines and other dungeons. The team will not only transform these caves and dungeons as in oblivion, but Skyblivion will see them redesigned to better fit the region and the corresponding quest.

One of the most impressive accomplishments of the volunteer team is a personal tool created to easily enter Oblivion tasks into the Skyrim engine; it was a big problem with previous buildings. They also polished and adjusted the UI. There is no word from the team on when they expect to complete the project, but they “finally see the end of the road”.

The developer team is also on the lookout for volunteers to help with the Skyblivion project. If you want to help them, you can register to volunteer here.
