Skull Session: Ohio State has the country’s two best receivers, Buckeyes Lead Nation in quadrant 1 wins, and Joey Bosa does a Super Bowl ad

People, it seems like the Buckeyes are real.

Again, this would probably have to be more generally accepted after winning the three-straight road against top-15 opponents, but if you have to see a fourth, I’m not going to discipline you.

Welcome to the wagon!

(Zed Key also had a better field goal percentage than Luka Garza. Do what you want with the information.)

Word of the day: bloom.

IT LOOKS GOOD. I’m new to this: ‘my team is very good at basketball’. Can someone please tell me if this is okay? Because it definitely looks good!

My favorite thing about this hot series was to gradually see how the hopes and expectations about this team change.

Initially it was “maybe they will be arranged!” Then it was ‘wow, this is a top 15 team!’ Last week we had ‘Oh’, they’re going to be in the top 10! At least until they play Iowa. And now the Buckeyes are definitely a top-five team and can legally chase a No. 1 seed.

Michigan is not ready.

BEST DAMN RECEIVERS IN THE COUNTRY. The bad news is that the state of Ohio does not have anyone on the rankings who has completed or even tried! – pass at university level. But the good news is that the state of Ohio also has the two best receivers in college football, according to Pro Football Focus.

1. CHRIS OLAVE, OHIO STATE

Olave is expected to be a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft, but he makes the surprising decision to return to school and make his stock even higher. For the Buckeyes, this is clearly fantastic news. They are getting back one of the most, if not the most, refined routes in college football.

He has separated more than 87% of his targets since 2019, the highest percentage in the country. Against some coverage over the past two seasons, Olave received 15 receptions to make a profit of 15 plus yard in which he had more than a few steps of separation. That left only Alabama’s DeVonta Smith for most in FBS (19) and is five more than the second-best Power Five receiver.

2. GARRETT WILSON, OHIO STATE

The state of Ohio may no longer have Justin Fields, but the team does have the best broad receiver duo in the country. This will surely facilitate the transition for (most likely) CJ Stroud as quarterback. Like his teammate Olave, Wilson is one of the best routes in the game. He impressed against single coverage (sixth in PFF grade on such plays) and regularly found soft spots against the zone while working from the slot. This led to a separation figure that achieved the eighth highest place in college football last season. The five-star recruits for 2019 are likely to set numbers in this offense again in 2021.

Chris Olave’s return eases my concern about the quarterback situation on two fronts.

First, it’s much easier to take over for a generation quarter if you return the best receiver in the country (see Jones, Mac). Second, there’s no way Olave would come back and risk millions of dollars in draft shares if he did not think next year’s quarterback would be good.

And Garrett Wilson – he’s not bad either!

Olave and Wilson is this year’s version of DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle – except that I much prefer if they both stay healthy, even if it costs the other one the Heisman trophy.

TO GET TO A TV NEAR YOU … There may not be any Buckeyes on the field on Sunday night, but Joey Bosa will play a role in the much better and more entertaining part of the Super Bowl – the commercials.

Truly, Joey Bosa is easily in my top five of the funniest Buckeyes who have played since I wrote online words about this team. Whatever it is, I’m sure it’s going to be hilarious.

ALWAYS READ THE FINE PRINT. It’s usually Michigan that makes me laugh for his hilarious awful social media game (like the time when they were repeatedly immersed after asking fans for pleasant sports memories, or when boasting the least missions, or when they posted a recruiting chart made with five former Ohio State players).

But it is, to derive their phrasing, unparalleled.

PENN STATE WON EVERY GAME THE PAST YEAR.

DO NOT STICK TO SPORT. Baltimore has officially ended its gruesome espionage program … A refugee fell through the ceiling of a house while police questioned his relatives … How to be angry … The lion, the polygamist and the biofuel scam .. How much awareness can increase anxiety … I was a teenage beauty contest loser …
