Skater uses umbrella to slide over ice like Mary Poppins

This is parasol-sliding.

A fast Canadian skater has enchanted social media users after using an umbrella to slide over ice like Mary Poppins.

“It was a good idea because we could cover the lake really fast,” says Devin Jenson of his daring icebergs. The stuntman devised the ‘very fun’ way of transportation while playing hockey with friends on Three Valley Lake near Revelstoke, British Columbia.

“My friend Bill then realized he had an umbrella in his car. So we thought we would try to pick up speed,” he told Storyful.

In the ensuing minute-long video, Jenson can be seen skating with his umbrella stretched out like the beloved Disney character as the wind drags him across the ice via his makeshift parasail. The comic track concludes with the sub-zero surfer flashing an inch upwards for the videographer as he glides past.

“It was not only snow-free, but also perfectly smooth and flat, which made for a wonderful afternoon,” stormed the daredevil, who had not seen the lake freeze like that, despite having lived there since 1989.
