The Sixers had an exciting win over the Los Angeles Lakers and were on their way to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves. It was unknown at this time what he would do after leaving the post. The Timberwolves, without their top player Karl-Anthony Towns, entered this game with a 4-13 record, so the hope was that this game would not be close. However, the Sixers had other ideas and decided to make the game much stricter, then it had to be early before it was taken control later. This is how everything fell apart.
1st term
The Sixers started shooting the game with 0-out-7 from the field because nothing is ever easy. Fortunately, the Timberwolves were just as bad and did not come out with any kind of lead. Even Joel Embiid started sluggishly and went 0-out-5 off the field, but the team made a concerted effort to make their living at the free throw line. The team went to the line 13 times in the first quarter, hitting every shot. Even with the slow start, Embiid still ends the quarter with 11 points and 6 rebounds – simply incredible. By a quarter, the game was tied at 25 pieces.
2nd term
Some improved shooting from Philadelphia helped them get some separation after halftime, but Minnesota continued to hold on. Shake Milton picked up two early fouls, so Tyrese Maxey took advantage of a few extra minutes and gave the team a much-needed spark. The rookie shot 3-out-3 for 6 points off the field before Embiid came back and still dominated.
The shot does not fall for Embiid, and he forces himself to the free throw line and goes 12-out-12 en route to 21 points in the first half. The twelve free throws so far this season in the entire NBA have been the most of any player in the half. Ben Simmons added to the fun by showing aggression and getting a ton at the edge, which helped the Sixers go 53-48 at halftime.
3rd term
What Doc Rivers said to the team at halftime worked because the Sixers looked like a whole other team to start the second half. After shooting below 30 percent in the first half, the team could not miss in the third quarter. Seth Curry came into action with two three-pointers, Joel Embiid continued to dominate by shooting 6-out-7 in the quarter for 16 points, and it all added that the team led by a much bigger point of 14 points has. To put it simply, the Sixers looked like a top-east conference team in the third quarter. Everyone did their part.
4th term
Not a ton going on in the fourth quarter, which is great for Sixers fans! The team did not waste their lead and gave Joel Embiid well-deserved rest. Matisse Thybulle went on to play an incredible defense and Tobias Harris sends Jaden McDaniels into the Shadow Realm. Very nice!
The final score defeated the Sixers 118-94. Joel Embiid led all scorers with just 37 points and 11 rebounds in just 27 minutes. The next step is a meeting with the Indiana Pacers on Sunday night.
