Sixers Bell Ringer: Fourth quarter-run raises Sixers to sixth straight win

Note: there is no traditional summary post for this game.

Sixers Bell Ringer Season:

Joel Embiid – 17
Ben Simmons – 7
Tobias Harris – 7
Skud Milton – 4
Matisse Thybulle – 2
Tyrese Maxey – 1
Dakota Mathias – 1

After a slow start where no team could buy a bucket, the Knicks advanced late in the second quarter, maintaining a one-digit lead for most of the second half. The Sixers eventually broke through, but in the middle of the fourth quarter, they scored 12-2, with a Seth Curry 3, which was five minutes left to restore the lead to 90-89. When the game was tied at 92, Tobias Harris managed on consecutive possessions to put the Sixers firmly in the driver’s seat to finish that resulted in a 99-96 victory over Philadelphia. If he plays a winning streak of now six, Doc Rivers’ club will ride against Milwaukee again tomorrow night. First, however, we must choose our Bell Ringer.

Tobias looked like he was racing against Julius Randle and the Knicks. Randle secured one of the last All-Star seats from the Eastern Conference, which Harris clearly rightly belonged to him. Early in the game, Tobi was the rare Sixer who was able to hit an outside shot and flattened his first four steps into the night. He also played a solid defense against Randle in the second half, shooting the Knicks’ All-Star from 2 to 10 at halftime. What people will remember most about Tobias’ night, however, was that he switched to Brad Lidge mode in 2008 and got closer. Harris scored eight points in the final five minutes of the game, including the rugby pickups to put the Sixers ahead. I have never seen Tobias on fire on a basketball court like when he shouted ‘I’m an All-Star’ after introducing the Sixers by four.

Ben Simmons: 16 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 turnovers

Ben’s offensive output (8-out-14 off the field for 16 points) looks solid when not spectacular, but I thought he was attacking the basket as aggressively as we saw him and easily a handful of offenses at stake could draw. where the refs’ whistles remained silent. He and Seth had a nice two-man match where Curry would receive the dribble handover and immediately come off Ben’s screen, yielding Seth three or four buckets. Defensively, it was a stockless night for Simmons, but he flies around the track, breaks a few Knicks quick breaks and plays strong perimeter defense. Ben is now 13-0 for life against the Knicks.

Seth Curry: 20 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 turnover

After a quiet first half, Seth came alive in the third quarter, scoring three tries and scoring 14 points in the period to prevent the Knicks from pulling too far ahead. Curry was showcasing the diversity in his offensive game, converting to a high-speed scoop, a high-bow drive in the lane, and a running banker. His biggest shot comes in the fourth, but the 28-foot bomb that gives the Sixers their first lead since very early in the second quarter. Some of the best shooters in the world struggled in the MTN DEW Zone three-point game last week, and Seth is out here hitting the shot at a critical moment of a highly competitive game.

Dwight Howard: 11 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 turnover

Howard’s recent play is still an absolute delight to watch. He is a constant stone of energy that binds plates and gets his setbacks around the edge. Dwight even knocked down a 19-foot jumper in the first quarter when no one else could hit a shot. But Howard made his mark on this win in the fourth quarter as he blocked Julius Randle through the hardwoods into the Flyers’ ice rink. “It’s for my son, Tobi!” I imagined Dwight thinking.
