Last month, Warner Bros. the “Coronavirus-Delayed” Wonder Woman 1984 “released, a sequel to the 2017 hit” Wonder Woman “. The action-adventure movie did relatively well at the box office (in places where theaters are open), though also for ‘ has been available for a limited time on streaming service HBO Max. But compared to the enthusiastic reaction to the first “Wonder Woman” movie, the sequel has shown a mixed reaction, with some critics and fans of the comics complaining about the unlikely plot and long duration of the film.
So, for those who have failed under ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, here are six other superhero options to stream – from the most popular and popular movies to never the great audience they deserved.
‘The Rocketeer’
Stream it Disney +; rent or buy it Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play, Vudu or Youtube.
The moviegoers developed another taste for superheroes in 1991 when Buena Vista Pictures from Walt Disney could not attract the crowd for this charming old-fashioned pulp exercise. The rocket is based on a little-known cartoon by illustrator Dave Stevens, and is a fast-paced pottery set in thirties Hollywood filled with glamorous swells and optimistic go-getters – including a bomb actress Jenny (Jennifer Connelly) and her stunt. pilot (Billy Campbell). Director Joe Johnston brings the film’s Nazi battle plot light and zipper – something he would do again 20 years later with the mighty ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’.
‘Darkman’
Rent or buy it Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play, Vudu or Youtube.
A little over a decade before director Sam Raimi was entrusted with the 2002 “Spider-Man,” he made his own twisted, R-rated version of a Marvel Comics movie, about a mad scientist who goes through tragedy driven to become a vigilant, disguised in an artificial skin that dissolves in sunlight. Anchored by a zealous Liam Neeson performance (which gets an early start with the ‘capable hero, looking for blood’ screen persona he has mastered in recent years), ‘Darkman’ combines elements of old universal monster movies, grim superhero comics from the 1970s and slapstick comedy. Although it is rated R and is not suitable for younger viewers, the film is a true original version.

‘Fast color’
Stream it Amazon Prime or Hulu; rent or buy it Apple TV, Google Play, Vudu or Youtube.
In some of the most haunting superhero stories, the mighty among us live in the ordinary world, without costumes or code. One of the best known of these is ‘Unbreakable’ by M. Night Shyamalan. Movie lovers who love that movie should definitely catch up with writer-director Julia Hart’s similarly low-boiling “Fast Color” about a family of women hiding their extraordinary abilities for a government agency that wants to exploit it. Hart and her co-author / producer Jordan Horowitz add their own turning point to this classic premise by focusing on human relationships and small moments of wonder.

‘X-Men: First Class’
Stream it HBO max; rent or buy it Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play, Vudu or Youtube.
The X-Men movie franchise and the hit Deadpool and Wolverine were extremely popular, but not consistent. ‘X-Men: First Class’ is the best of the group because it’s not caught up in complicated mythology. Instead, the story begins at the beginning, in 1962, while two young mutant chums work together with different ideologies to recruit more of their own kind. Director Matthew Vaughn gives the picture the polish of a James Bond film, while James McAvoy (as Professor Charles Xavier) and Michael Fassbender (as Erik “Magneto” Lehnsherr) lead an essential cast in an adventure filled with international intrigue .

‘Big Hero 6’
Stream it Disney +; rent or buy it Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play, Vudu or Youtube.
Since the superhero genre has become a phenomenon thanks to the ink-stained medium of comics, it is a pity that there were no more big-budget animated superhero movies. The Oscar-winning “Big Hero 6” is a great example of how the exaggerated, cartoon-like illustrations common to animation are very good for kinetic, fantastic action. The film is also child-friendly and tells the story of a moody teenage genius who gathers a group of tech nerds to help him unravel his conspiracy, along with his breathtaking, superrobot Baymax. “Big Hero 6” is both cute and visually dazzling, an old-fashioned superhero story riddled with positivity.

‘Birds of prey (and the fantastic emancipation of one Harley Quinn)’
Stream it HBO max; rent or buy it Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play, Vudu or Youtube.
Disappointed cartoonists in Wonder Woman 1984 had an excellent alternative to their DC Comics superhero solution last year. In the ‘Suicide Squad’ spin ‘Birds of Prey’, Margot Robbie repeats her role as the delightful Gotham City crook Harley Quinn, who joins forces with a bit more virtuous ladies in an explosive battle with a local boss. Director Cathy Yan and screenwriter Christina Hodson upload their film with bad language, bloody violence and self-referential humor, and that’s the point sstrong female heroes are great, strong female antiheroes can have more fun.
