Singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers, who was nominated by the Grammy, added the allegations against rock star Marilyn Manson, saying he once showed a “r * pe room” in his house, which she said she considered teenager visited.
Bridgers’ allegation comes because Manson’s former partner, Evan Rachel Wood, accused him of abuse. Other women have since come out with similar allegations.
“I went to Marilyn Manson’s house when I was a teenager with some friends,” Bridgers said. said on Twitter on Thursday. “I was a big fan. He referred to a room in his house as the ‘r * pe room’. I thought it was just his awful sense of humor. I stopped being a fan. . “
A Manson representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
On Monday, Westworld actor Wood said on Instagram that Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, “started caring for me when I was a teenager and abused me horribly for years.”
The couple went out in public when she was 19 and he was 36.
“I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission,” Wood wrote. “I’m done in fear of retaliation, slander or extortion.”
Responding to Wood’s accusations on Instagram, Manson said: “My art and my life have long been magnets of controversy, but these recent allegations about me are terribly distorted from reality. My intimate relationships have always been completely one-sided with like-minded partners. “No matter how – and why – others now choose to misrepresent the past, that’s the truth.”
Wood claims that “many industries” enabled Manson.
On the day of her Instagram post, her record label, Loma Vista, said it would stop promoting its latest album and rule out future projects with Manson.
Wood testified about her experiences with domestic and sexual violence during a 2018 hearing by the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Sexual Assault Charter Act.
She told the subcommittee she was raped by an unnamed abusive partner.
Bridgers has previously spoken to her about her own experiences with abuse.
In 2019, she was one of four women quoted by name in a New York Times story about musician and producer Ryan Adams’ alleged abusive behavior toward women. After spending 20 years with Adams in a recording studio, she told the publication they began a relationship that became dark when he sent countless texts, insisting that she prove where she is and exerting her pressure for phone sex.
Bridgers said Adams promised to have her act as an opener at his shows, but was withdrawn after she broke up with him. Adams’ lawyer responded to Bridgers’ allegations by telling the Times that the couple “caught a short consensus” and denied that Adams threatened to stop his label from releasing Bridgers’ songs.
