What is the story of Hollow Knight: Silksong?
Hollow Knight: Silksong follows Hornet, a character who met and fought players in the first game after ending up in the Kingdom of Pharloom. Players follow her as she ascends the kingdom to reach a citadel, and possibly more. While Team Cherry oversees many story details, the developers did tell it Edge Magazine that Hornet is a much more defined protagonist.
“She is able to express her goals and intentions and things, which means you can not really hide her intentions or purpose from the player,” said co-director William Pellen. Edge. “So there’s still a lot of mystery, but the player will really quickly, even if you have not played Hollow Knight yet, get a basic idea of who Hornet is, her attitude and her tenets.”
What is Hollow Knight: Silksong game like?
Like the first game, Hollow Knight: Silksong is a Metroidvania with an extensive world that players can explore. Players will complete tasks and acquire new skills over the course of the adventure that will not only expand Hornet’s move set, but also open up new areas. While Silksong is similar to the first game in that way, Team Cherry emphasizes the fact that Hornet’s size and abilities make the game feel completely different.
The developers explained to Edge magazine that “Hornet is bigger, everything changes” as she moves faster, jumps higher, mantles and climbs on ridges. Hornet also relies more on physical attacks and skills in combat, rather than on the wizards they became comfortable with in the first game. Hornet can also heal itself with the ability called Bind, though this ability is slow to use.
Hornet also uses shell shards from enemies she killed to make tools to help her in battles. Some of the capabilities provided by Edge includes a Pimpillo bomb that has a great effect for damage, Sting Shards to stick out nails when hit, A Straight pin that can be thrown from a distance to hurt enemies. Hornet can use Tools via Crests, which are customizable tool uploads.
Is Hollow Knight: Silksong DLC or a sequel?
Hollow Knight: Silksong is a full-fledged sequel to the first game with a whole new character, enemies, worlds and more. The game did start its life as a Kickstarter DLC stretch goal for the first game, but the developers quickly realized that an experience with Hornet was worth building into its own game, which was also a ‘perfect’ springboard for new players’ would be. , according to co-director Ari Gibson
For these reasons, you do not have to worry about the game being a glorified extension of the first game, especially not with how long Team Cherry takes to polish the experience.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is currently being developed for PC and Nintendo Switch.
