Secure messaging service Signal is back on track after an interruption caused by an increase in demand.

Like another secure messaging program, Telegram, Signal recently became popular amid the aftermath of the riot in Capitol.

According to the Associated Press, a recent privacy update of WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, has helped increase demand for Signal and Telegram.

On Saturday night, Signal explained that its service had been restored after a demand outage.

“Signal is back!” tweeted it. “Like an underdog going through a training montage, we’ve learned a lot since yesterday – and we did it together. Thank you to the millions of new Signal users around the world for your patience. Your ability to understand has inspired us as we has expanded capacity. “

However, in a subsequent tweet, Signal noted that some users may see errors, but added that it does not affect the security of their messages.

“As an unfortunate side effect of this interruption, users may see errors in some of their chats,” Signal wrote. “It * does not * affect * the security of your chat, but you may have missed a message from that contact. The next updates of the Signal app will fix it automatically.”

On its website, Signal demonstrates the ability for users to ‘share without insecurity’, noting that it uses end-to-end encryption to keep messages secure. “We can not read your messages or listen to your calls, and no one else can,” it says.

According to data from apptopia specialist Apptopia, from 16 January 2021, Signal was number 10 on the list of the most popular free apps in the iOS App Store, and Telegram was at number 4. Signal was number 1 on Apptopia’s list. free apps in the Google Play Store with Telegram in second place.
