Sia defends her decision to play Maddie Ziegler in ‘Music’

The “Chandelier” singer appears in Australia’s “The Sunday Project” to explain the reasoning for her cast. Ziegler is going to play Music, a teenager with autism who eventually lives with her sister Zu, Zu, played by Kate Hudson.

“I realized it was not competence, I mean it’s presumably, I think too, but it’s actually nepotism, because I can not do a project without her. I do not want to. I would not make art if it do not include her, ‘said Sia.

The singer has had adversity from some in the autistic community, and people have said that she should have thrown someone who is actually on the autism spectrum, rather than Ziegler, who appeared in Sia’s music videos.

Ziegler was afraid to pull the part off, Sia added, but according to medical experts, she nailed the role in rehearsals.

“She cried on the first day of practice and she was really scared and said, ‘I do not want anyone to think I’m mocking them. “I said boldly, ‘I will not let this happen,'” Sia said.

“Last week I realized I could not really protect her from it, which I thought I could do,” Sia added. “We sent it to the Child Mind Institute and she received 100% accuracy of the performance. I realize there are things I can not protect her from as much as I try.”
