There is almost no chance that the Pittsburgh Steelers can trade for Deshaun Watson, quarterback Houston Texans. The cost is just going to be way too high. However, that does not mean that the Steelers can still not trade with Houston to give Steeler Nation great joy.
According to NFL Reporter Ian Rapoport, part of the Texans fire sale could include JJ Watt, a permanent All-Pro defense. With brothers TJ and Derek already in the Steelers series, it will be an impressive synergy if Pittsburgh can also wrestle JJ.
But does the Steelers need him? The easy answer, of course. Despite being only one year younger than Cam Heyward, Watt still plays good football and will be a huge addition to the Steelers defensive line with Heyward and Stephon Tuitt.
Unfortunately, Watt’s trading this season is a luxury that Pittsburgh cannot afford. Between Watt’s salary constraint and the value of this year’s draft, it’s hard to imagine the Steelers extending themselves to any player.
