What does the CDC say?
The CDC said pregnant women were at increased risk for serious diseases due to COVID-19, “including diseases that lead to ICU uptake, mechanical ventilation and death compared to non-pregnant women of reproductive age.”
Limited data are available for the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine in pregnant women, according to the CDC.
- Limited data are currently available from animal development and reproductive toxicity studies. No safety problems were observed in rats receiving Moderna COVID-19 vaccine before or during pregnancy; studies of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine continue. ”
- More studies are planned. Vaccine manufacturers are monitoring clinical trials to determine its impact.
