Authorities in Indianapolis reported late Thursday on a shooting in a FedEx warehouse in the city and local media, referring to police, said there were several victims.
Major Joseph McAtee of the Marion County Sheriff of Indiana said by telephone Friday morning there was a shooting in a FedEx warehouse near the Indianapolis airport. He said he could not provide any other details.
Sam Rodino, a spokeswoman for the Indiana State Police, said by telephone the warehouse is on the southwest side of the city. He said he had no details about victims.
FedEx representatives could not be immediately reached for comment. Calls to a spokeswoman for the Indianapolis Police Department have gone unanswered.
The shooting was reported at the FedEx plant on Mirabel Road in Indianapolis, Indianapolis television station WRTV reported. According to the station, Officer Genae Cook of Indianapolis Police said officers were called to the scene around 11 p.m., after shots were fired.
Traffic to a nearby section of Interstate 70 was briefly closed, Sgt. John Perrine of the Indiana State Police posted on Twitter.
A reporter at WRTV an interview posted on Twitter with a man who said he was at the facility when the shooting broke out and later saw a body on the floor.
Courtney Crown, a reporter with a Fox News affiliate in Indianapolis, posted another interview with a man saying his niece was admitted to hospital after she was shot in the left arm when the shooting broke out.
The man, Parminder Singh, said his cousin was sitting in a car in a nearby parking lot.
