Shooting in Ohio at Bob Evans Restaurant; waitress dead, ex-boyfriend arrested: police

According to reports, a man from Ohio who shot his ex-girlfriend in a Bob Evans restaurant where she was raped was shot dead.

According to FOX 8 in Cleveland, Rebecca Jean Rogers, 38, was shot several times and taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her wounds.

Diners at the Canton, Ohio, restaurant, took cover under the tables on Friday morning when the suspect, Richard James Nelson, 54, allegedly opened fire on Rogers and then ran out the back door and caught the hunt on the neck.

“There has been a history of domestic violence with the victim and the suspect in the past,” Canton Police Chief Jack Angelo told FOX 8. “It just shows how dangerous domestic violence is.”

He added that no one else was shot in the incident.

Nelson has been arrested in Eastern Canton, south of Cleveland, and is facing charges of aggravated murder. According to WKYC-TV in Cleveland, he was held on a $ 2 million bond.

Nelson has reportedly had convictions in the province, including for assault.
