Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne HD Remaster is on its way to PC in May

I only played one Shin Megami Tensei game. “Hey, it’s going to be like Persona from the series, but with the focus on fighting colorful demons,” I thought. It’s true, it’s true! But it’s rock hard too and I just died and died and died until I gave up hope.

Today I am excited for two reasons: Shim Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is on its way to a PC, and it will come with a new ‘Gracious’ difficulty mode.

Shin Megami Tensei 3 was first released on PlayStation 2 in 2003, and the HD remaster was released in parts of Asia in October last year. It has higher resolution 3D models and backgrounds, the ability to save everywhere, new voice acting and other content, but is otherwise a faithful rendition of the original game.

This European version is the first time the main series is coming to a computer (do not come to me with the two strange exceptions), and continues Atlus’ recent trend to bring their classic RPGs to a computer. Last year, they released Persona 4 Golden on Steam with great success – although it was a port of a PSvita game and a bit rough around the edges as a result. Nocturne HD Remaster is built for PlayStation 4 and looks much smoother.

If you’re not familiar with SMT3, it’s about a high school student in Tokyo who transforms into a “Demi-enemy” after an apocalyptic event that fills the city with demons. As you do. You fight against the demons in turn, and recruit them to fight with you. The Persona series has become more popular, but is an effect of Megami Tensei.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster will be released on May 25 via Steam.
