About a month after her breakup with Shia LaBeouf, actress Margaret Qualley showed her support for FKA twigs because she spoke out about her alleged abusive relationship with the actor.
Qualley posted the cover photo of FKA Branches’ cover for the upcoming issue of Elle magazine, where the 33-year-old singer opened up about her difficult relationship with 34-year-old LaBeouf. The former couple started dating in 2018.
“Thank you,” Qualley wrote for the caption.
The British singer, born as Tahliah Debrett Barnett, filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf last year, claiming that the actor was ‘dangerous’ and that he had a history of abusing women ‘physically and mentally’. According to the lawsuit, LaBeouf strangled her and threatened to collide with a car they were driving.
Qualley dated LaBeouf when the news of the lawsuit surfaced and in early January, the two split up. While the 26-year-old actress did not say she experienced any abuse when she dated LaBeouf, her message indicates that she believes the allegations against him.
The report received nearly 43,000 likes in less than 24 hours, and many followers thank the actress for solidarity. Qualley’s mother, Andie MacDowell, commented on her daughter’s message and wrote: “Precious girls. Beloved.”
Olivia Wilde, who fired LaBeouf from her upcoming movie Do not worry Honey back in September, she also seemed to show her support in her subtle way and posted a photo from which the actress sent her Wake up, a short film directed by Wilde, starring Qualley.
“I miss directing you, MQ. You’re a fierce and special one,” Wilde wrote as a caption.
The Elle FKA branches admit that she survived the relationship as a ‘miracle’.
“I think it’s luck,” she told the magazine. “I honestly wish I could say I found some strength and that I saw this light. I wish I could say, ‘[It is] a proof of my strong character ‘, or’ as my mother raised me. “It’s none of that. It’s pure luck that I’m no longer in the situation, ” she said, adding that restoring their relationship ‘was the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to do. This is of course very fresh for me. I know [this journey] is not going to be perfect. But I hope that if I can take small steps, and people can see that I am taking my life back, it will inspire them. ‘
LaBeouf initially responded to her demands by issuing a statement to the New York Times where he apologized and admitted that he had “insulted myself and everyone around me” for years, while claiming that many allegations were “not true.” Twigs said the apology was an example of the type of “gas lighting” she experienced during their relationship.
“It reminds me of the gas lighting I experienced when I was with him,” she told Gayle King, CBS, last week. “It takes some of the blame, but not all, and then denies it.”
