Sheryl Underwood: What she said about the dispute over Sharon Osbourne

Osbourne and Underwood have had a heated debate over Osbourne’s support for her longtime friend, Piers Morgan. Morgan has been accused of racism in his comments on Prince Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

On her podcast, Underwood thanks everyone for their support and explains that she moderates the day she and Osbourne clashed because regular moderator Carrie Ann Inaba was ill.

For that reason, Underwood said she wants to be calm and focused on being able to do her job adequately.

She reminded her podcast audience that she had said to Osbourne – who became visible during the extermination – “Forgive me.”

“If I can get ‘Forgive me’ out of my mouth, it means you’re ready for healing,” Underwood said. “I said ‘I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry, I never intended to hurt you. ‘

She said she could see from her co-host expressions that there was some anxiety, but that she was more focused on a dentist appointment she had directly after the show, things she had to do and a desire to nap.

“I was almost calm,” she said.

Underwood said she was hurt and disappointed, but determined to ‘manage it’ and do her job. And while she was hesitant the next day about how the show would go, I said: Sheryl, it’s entertainment, it’s television, it’s television over the day.

“You want to keep this program on the air for another ten years because you believe it has legs,” she said. “And people go through programs all the time.”

She said she had peace about what happened.

“I slept well because I did nothing to anyone. I did nothing,” Underwood said. “And I was a good friend. No matter what came to me, I was a good friend.”

Underwood said Osbourne then asked if they could talk, but that she did not say.
