Sheryl Underwood reflects on heated Sharon Osbourne meeting: ‘I slept well’

Sheryl Underwood opened up about how she felt after Sharon Osbourne, her co-host of ‘The Talk’, yelled at her during a discussion last week about Piers Morgan’s relentless attacks on Meghan Markle.

The comedian was ‘relieved’ after the whole ordeal, she said on Saturday in an episode of her podcast, ‘The World According to Sheryl’.

“I slept well. “I slept well because I did nothing to anyone,” she said. “And I was a good friend, no matter what came to me, I was a good friend.”

During an episode of ‘The Talk’ last week, Underwood questioned Osbourne tweet her support for Morgan, who publicly doubts the things the Duchess of Sussex said during her bombing interview with Oprah Winfrey. During the interview, Meghan spoke about her experiences regarding racism, and she revealed that she was considering suicide.

“What would you say to people who feel like you’re giving a ratification or safe haven to something he said that is racist while standing by your friend?” Ask Underwood for Osbourne.

The conversation quickly took a turn when an outraged Osbourne demanded that Underwood ‘educate’ her about how Morgan’s dismissal of Meghan’s experiences – and his years of fitness with her – could be seen as racist. (See parts of the segment below.)

In the podcast episode released on Saturday, Underwood also pointed out that she was trying to explain the differences between covert and overt racism to Osbourne.

She then discussed how it was on set shortly after the heated exchange.

“The atmosphere for me was: it’s all forgiven and over as soon as it’s said,” she said. “Once the screaming and the screaming happened, it was all forgiven and over.”

“I do not know what Sharon has in her heart, I do not know what she feels,” Underwood later said. “The only feelings I can control … are my own.”

Underwood said Osbourne approached her to chat after their interaction on air, but that they ‘flattened’ it.

Osbourne told Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday that she felt blinded when Underwood asked her about Morgan and that she felt she was ‘set’. She told ET she liked Underwood and apologized to her, but that “she did not come back.”

“I should never have rejected her feelings on national TV,” Osbourne added.

Earlier this week, journalist Yashar Ali reported that Osbourne was accused of making racist and homophobic comments about her former colleagues. She denied these allegations.

CBS posts ‘The Talk’ shortly after Osbourne and Underwood’s exchange over Morgan. The network told Deadline on Tuesday that the interruption had been extended to next week and that it was investigating “important concerns expressed and discussions about events taking place on ‘The Talk’.”
