The ShengYeng Queen proves she has the chops to be the next Queen of Dancehall after her latest share on YouTube today, which also drew comparisons to rapper Nicki Minaj from some American fans.
After making the Jamaica Gleaner’s staff selection for ‘Female Artiste Of The Year’ in an issue yesterday, we see the Dancehall artist slipping through a sick freestyle segment with the help of her disc jockey, DJ Black Boy from Romeich Entertainment .
In what Shenseea apparently thought, it’s just going to be a rendition of her previously released single. Bad habit, she was challenged to give her lyrical chops on the freestyle Do not rush riddim.
To say she nailed it would be an understatement.
In the initial unraveling of her rhymes, the Lights deejay raged her dominance in the game in a traditional freestyle form. Spicy clever and unexpected metaphors, cut into cubes here and there with a few name drops, her finished delivery was sharp, fast and witty.

Twitter user RiannaNaomi stated: ‘It’s amazing how The Shade Room posted ShenseeaThe freestyle on their IG page and many unsalted Americans compare her to Nicki Minaj, saying she tries to be like her, or that they can not understand what she is saying. No Shenseea libel will be tolerated !!! ”
While Shenseea says she struggles to land landings with female Jamaican deeds, there were rumors in May last year that she secured one with Minaj. The rumors got fans of both artists excited and hopeful for a summer release that never came.
However, the singer is expected to release her debut album in March or April 2021, and said she will be delighted to work with stars such as Rihanna, Megan Thee Stallion and Mary J Blige.
