Shakira is the latest recording artist to sell her music publishing rights.
The Colombian artist, whose music has earned her three Grammys in her career, has downloaded her entire 145-song catalog to Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited, an investment firm in the United Kingdom.
The company announced the acquisition on Wednesday via Twitter and welcomes the 43-year-old songwriter “Hips Don’t Lie” to his list of intellectual property, calling Shakira “one of the most serious and successful songwriters of the past 25 years.”

Shakira released her debut album in 1991 at age 13. She gained international fame in 1995 with the release of her third album, “Pies Descalzos.”

Shakira has won many international accolades for her life’s work as a songwriter and instrumentalist, three Grammy Awards, 12 Latin Grammys, four MTV Video Music Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards and 39 Billboard Latin Music Awards.
She also has six Grammy nominations to her credit.
To date, the artist “She Wolf” has sold 80 million albums worldwide – and her latest collaboration, “Girl Like Me”, with the famous Black Eye Peas, has also been included in the agreement with Hipgnosis.
The sale price of the catalog has not been disclosed and the investment cohort currently has no publishing rights to any of Shakira’s future recordings.

“Being a songwriter is an achievement that I consider to be equal to and perhaps even greater than being a singer and artist,” Shakira said in a statement. ‘At the age of 8 – long before I sang – I wrote to make the world meaningful. Shakira was named the Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year in 2011 – and much of the net proceeds from the gala were donated to Shakira’s Pies Descalzos Foundation, which aims to help poor and impoverished children in Colombia to help.
