So you can excite me about Netflix’s highly anticipated book-to-TV adaptation of Shadow and leg, based on Leigh Bardugo’s best-selling Grishaverse novels.
Well, today Netflix announced that the eight episode Shadow and leg series will officially start streaming on April 23, and I’m so pumped.
As I mentioned above, Shadow and leg is based on Leigh Bardugo’s novels and follows Alina Starkov, a soldier and orphan who is only trying to survive a ‘war-torn world’.
Soon Alina unleashes an ‘extraordinary power’ that could be exactly the country that liberates her country. With the threat that the Shadow Fold threatens, Alina is now being trained as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as ‘Grisha’.

Alina will ‘struggle to hone her power’ as she soon realizes that “allies and enemies can be one and the same and that nothing in this lush world looks the way it does.”
All of you, I literally jump up and down in excitement to see how these characters finally come alive on screen.

Here’s a first look at Archie Renaux as Malyen Oretsev and Jessie Mei Li as Alina.
In the series, Jessie Mei Li plays Alina Starkov and Ben Barnes as General Kirigan, and I’m so ready to see them in action.
Also Archie Renaux will play Malyen Oretsev, Freddy Carter will bring Kaz Brekker to life, Amita Suman will play Inej and Kit Young will be Jesper Fahey.

Speaking of bringing Shadow and leg to life, showrunner and executive producer Eric Heisserer said: “We worked tirelessly to create an inhabited feel for fictional countries like Ketterdam and Ravka, with invented languages, uniforms, currency and artistic choices from set design to costume.”

Besides Eric, the series is also executive produced by Shawn Levy, who is one of the thinkers behind Stranger things, and his company 21 Laps Entertainment.
Actually, I count down the days until I can sit on my couch and watch this TV adaptation. And I can already see it’s the show I’ll be screaming about this spring.
