On Thursday morning, Farhan Zaidi, president of the baseball industry at the San Francisco Giants, told the media that the team wanted to acquire a left-handed fielder, but preferred to do so via trade rather than free agency.
And on Thursday night, they did exactly that when they swapped Shaun Anderson with the right-handed pitcher for the Minnesota Twins in exchange for LaMonte Wade Jr.
Wade has played in the past two MLB seasons and is a career of .211 / .336 / .347 in 113 record appearances. But this is the Giants, so you can be sure that his relationship between running and streak is right, and that is: Wade has run 15 times in his career and hit 18 times. He was very strong at most lower levels, but struggled a bit in AAA.
And so the Giants say goodbye to Anderson, who came over as part of the Eduardo Núñez trade. In 46 appearances with the Giants – including 16 starts – Anderson had an ERA of 5.17 and an FIP of 4.90, with 88 strikeouts to 50 runs in 111.1 overs.
Congratulations to Minny, Anderson, and welcome to the Giants, Wade.
