A late Luuk de Jong a strike gave Sevilla a chance to advance in the Champions League, although they lost 3-2 Erling Haaland-inspired Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.
Suso gave LaLiga Santander’s team an early lead, but Mahmoud Dahoud en Haaland led the Germans to a victory with three away goals to De Jong’s late goal.
Just seven minutes later, Suso opened the scoring in a typical way. Fernando switch ball from left to right Suso, which has cut in the past Jadon Sancho and sent a deflected shot past Marwin Hitz.
But HaalandIts impact was soon felt, and just over ten minutes later he stepped on Dahoud to level things.
Another ten minutes passed and the Norwegian got his own goal. Sancho cut a ball over Sevilla’s backline for the forward, who knocked Bono to the ball to finish.
Before half-time arrived, Haaland celebrated again. Marco Reus drove forward and made off for the No. 9, who slid in to turn the ball home.
De Jong Suso replaced, and did early on what the Spaniard did by finishing six minutes from the end and a Oscar Rodriguez pass by Marwin Hitz.
Sevilla wanted a penalty for an incident deep in stagnation De Jong, but VAR ruled that there was no offense.
