Life-threatening allergic reactions to the Modern Covid-19 vaccine are ‘rare’, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said after analyzing data from millions who had it for the first time.

The CDC looked at 4,041,396 people across the country who received the first doses of Moderna vaccine between December 21 and January 10.

Overall, it was reported that 1,266 people (0.03 percent) had some kind of people “Unfavorable” reaction.

Among them, 10 had a strong, life-threatening allergic reaction, that is, 2.5 cases per million doses administered, the agency said, referring to the system for vaccination by unwanted incidents. This group included nine people with a documented history of allergy and allergic reactions to drugs, contrast media, or food.

“Among eight people with follow-up information available, all recovered or were discharged,” said the CDC. All ten strong allergic reactions were in women.
No allergy-related deaths were reported.

Several people needed medical help after receiving the first dose of Moderna vaccine in California earlier this month. Some of these cases have been reported by local media as allergic reactions.
