What turns out to be one of the most exciting features of iOS 14.5 seems to work a little differently than it originally did.

Last month, Redditors discovered that the iOS 14.5 beta offered a new menu when a user asked Siri to play music. The menu offers alternatives to app playback for music, including Spotify, rather than referring to Apple Music. In some cases, Siri plays music in the same app other than Apple Music the next time you ask for it, though not every time.

Like Gizmodo report at the time, Siri sometimes played the song in Spotify, for example, if requested, but sometimes in Apple Music. Other times, Siri displays the same menu again to select an app. It looked like it might be a new, if buggy, feature for choosing another standard music app, as Apple recently allowed users to change their default browser and email apps in iOS 14. But that does not seem to be the case.

TechCrunch report On Thursday, Apple made it clear that the new menu is actually a Siri feature to learn your habits and improve your experience over time. Referring to Apple, TechCrunch reported that the app you selected did not become your new default, as suspected, which explains why the same menu still appears occasionally during testing, even after a non-Apple Music app selected.

The feature that is the feature that Siri knows your listening preferences also explains why podcast apps also appear in this menu. Since there was no option in the menu settings to set up an alternative standard music app, just like for browsers and email clients, it makes sense that the new menu is more broadly focused on understanding your listening habits.

Apple has confirmed the feature of the Siri feature. Spotify not come back immediately a request for comment.

Interestingly, the menu that appeared in the original iOS 14.5 public beta seems to have disappeared in public beta 2 before returning to public beta 3. However, there is again no option to officially change the music program in the settings, although sometimes it can save non-Apple Music listeners a step, but it is not a sure solution to avoid Apple’s. music service if you use Siri commands to play your tunes.

Sorry, Spotify users. It looks like we’re still sitting at Apple Music for now.

Apple Confirmation Added.
