Serena Williams showed no signs of a shoulder injury when she entered the second round of the Australian Open with a resounding victory over German Laura Siegemund.

The seven-time champion put on a brightly colored one-legged cat suit at Rod Laver Arena but lost the opening game but set Siegemund aside 6-1 6-1 in less than an hour.

The 39-year-old, who was selected 10th, withdrew from the semifinals of the run-up to the tournament against Ash Barty because he mentioned the injury but did not prevent it in the one-sided case.

“Good job, they pay her well, it’s horrible,” one Twitter user said.

“It looks crazy uncomfortable, especially in Melbourne’s heat,” another shared.

“It was a great start – vintage ‘Rena,’ Williams said in the post – match interview.

“I think I’m pretty good at picking me up on a big slam.”

The American was eager to get off the track to reach the end of the Super Bowl and see the legendary Tom Brady, the 43-year-old Tampa Bay fullback, in action.

“I’m an American and we love the Super Bowl and Tom Brady is in my age group, so it’s exciting,” she said.

“He’s amazing – to compete … at 43 is unheard of and it’s very inspiring to me at my ripe young age of thirty.”
