Serena Williams makes her 2021 Australian Open debut in style

While Tom Brady filed his case for the greatest athlete of all time on Sunday night, some 9,600 miles away, Serena Williams said, “Not so fast, buddy.”

With all due respect to Brady and his Super Bowl award-winning teammates Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he was not the only BOK in action. Serena won the evening with her performances on the track during the Australian Open, statement wear and global domination.

Before even playing a single point in her first round 6-1, 6-1 over Laura Siegemund, the 39-year-old had already appeared during that time other sporting event in a memorable Super Bowl ad.

Shortly afterwards, the 23-time major champion got everyone talking again as she carried the court with a colorful, asymmetrical, one-legged cat suit. She later said the look was inspired by the late singer Florence Griffith Joyner.

“I was inspired by Flo-Jo, who was an amazing athlete in my growing up years,” she later said. “Her outfits were always great to look at in her fashion, but always changing, and this year we thought of what we could do to elevate the Serena Williams on the track. The Nike team is actually thinking about this design of inspiration by Flo-Jo. I was like, ‘Oh, my god, that’s so brilliant.’

Although the catsuit is not currently on sale, Nike has unveiled a range of T-shirts celebrating Serena’s legendary achievements and iconic status. Her husband, Alexis Ohanian, was even spotted with one in her box during the game.

If you think “QUEEN!” for yourself at this point if you relive her amazing night, it looks like she would agree.
