Senior military members call on Tucker Carlson to mock women serving in the armed forces: His words ‘do not reflect our values’

Carlson, who is in fact the face of Fox and hosts the leading program on the right channel, mocked President Joe Biden on Tuesday for saying the U.S. military had created uniforms to fit women well, and created pregnancy flight suits for the pregnant. and updated requirements for hairstyles.

“So, we have new hairstyles and flight suits for maternity,” snarls Carlson. “Pregnant women are going to wage our wars. It’s a mockery of the US military.”

Carlson’s remarks sparked a severe backlash from some of the most senior members of the U.S. military who called out to Twitter on Wednesday and Thursday to call out Carlson for what they described as damaging and divisive rhetoric.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Thursday that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had the same “disgust” that many military leaders expressed over the comments Carlson made.

Kirby said the military still needs to do “a lot of work” to become “more inclusive, more respectful of everyone – especially women”.

“We promise to do better, and we will do it,” Kirby said. “What we absolutely will not do is seek staff advice from a talk show host or the Chinese military. Maybe people feel they have something to prove. It depends on them. ‘

Kirby’s remarks came when a number of senior military leaders excited Carlson about his rhetoric.

“Women lead our deadliest units with character. They will dominate ANY future battlefield we are called to fight,” tweeted the Sergeant Major of the Army, Michael A. Grinston. “@TuckerCarlson’s words are divisive, do not reflect our values. We have the MOST professional, educated, agile and strongest NCO Corps in the world.”
General Paul Funk, who oversees Army Training and Doctrine Command policy and leads future changes for troops, tweeted that ‘thousands of women around the world serve honorably every day’.

“They are beacons of freedom and they prove Carlson wrong through determination and dedication,” Funk added. “We are happy that they are serving with us.”

The senior designated leader at the U.S. Space Command, Marine Corps Master Gunnery Sgt. Scott H. Stalker, posted a video in which he calls Carlson’s program ‘drama TV’ and says he ‘wants to remind everyone’ that Carlson’s opinion is ‘based on a real zero days service in the army’.
Major General Patrick Donahoe posted a video of him “who is re-enrolling for one of the tens of thousands of women serving in our army.”
“Just a reminder that @TuckerCarlson could not be more wrong,” Donahoe said. Fort Hood Deputy Commander-in-Chief John B. Richardson IV tweeted“Mothers in uniform fight & win our country’s wars. Fathers in uniform fight & win our country’s wars. Soldier is not a gender noun.”

Lieutenant General Theodore D. Martin shared a photo of his daughter and said that “contrary to what you hear ‘does NOT’ make a mockery of our army. ‘

“YOU WIN that your daughter was as AWESOME as MINE!” Martin added. “So BACK.”

A Fox spokesman did not respond to a request for comment Thursday morning.

Carlson regularly makes infectious remarks about his primetime performance. He was also called out by The New York Times this week to encourage harassment against one of his journalists. And in the past, he has seen large-scale advertisers boycott over comments on the Black Lives Matter movement and immigration.
Carlson’s top writer ended his job last year after a CNN report revealed that he had used a pseudonym for years to post racist and sexist comments on an online forum.

Programming on Fox has become increasingly extreme over the past few years, and even more so after the November election, when smaller-channel competition made a bid for its conservative audience.

The days when Fox marketed itself as a ‘fair and balanced’ news channel are long gone. Most of the channel’s programs are now filled with right-wing comments.

Fox Corporation CEO Lachlan Murdoch even recently admitted that he views the network’s role in the Biden years as the ‘loyal opposition’ to the White House.
