Senator Ted Cruz doubles after John Boehner told him: ‘Go F *** Yourself’

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz doubles his response to former House Speaker John Boehner after telling the Texas Republican to “go it alone” in a sound recording.

“I think he probably picked up at nine or ten in the morning, so of course he had too much wine that day,” Cruz told the Daily Caller on Saturday. “This man is a little awkward.”

Cruz mockingly tweeted on Friday that he proudly carried Boehner’s “drunk, blasphemy” along with a clip from an upcoming CBS News interview with Boehner in which he called Cruz a “jerk” and accused him of “making a lot of noise” make, but not particularly productive in Congress.

“The swamp is unfortunate,” Cruz tweeted. “I proudly bear his drunken, bitter mockery. Please do not cry,” jokes the legislator, referring to Boehner’s reputation for appearing emotionally public at various points during his career.

The former speaker took several shots at Cruz, including while recording his audiobook when he reportedly told Cruz to “f —” himself in a few moments outside of writing.

In the CBS interview, Boehner says he does not like to ‘hit anyone’, but that he would make an exception for Cruz.

“Perfect symbol, you know, to get elected, make a lot of noise, draw a lot of attention to yourself, raise a lot of money, which means you’re going to make more noise, raise more money,” Boehner told CBS. of how he views Cruz’s political career.

Boehner, an Ohio Republican who served as House Speaker from 2011-2015, is conducting the interview rounds to promote his book ‘On The House: A Washington Memoir’ which appears next week. Boehner represented the 8th Congressional District of Ohio from 1991-2015.

Cruz made a joke about it at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Florida in February, saying: ‘John Boehner made news. He suggested I do something that was anatomically impossible. To which my answer was: ‘Who is John Boehner according to The Hill.

Cruz remarked on Saturday that the ‘lead insult on the back of the book is another insult he directed at me.’

“He seems to be a little obsessed,” Cruz said.

Asked if he intended to write a book about Boehner, Cruz made it clear: “I do not expect to write a fortune cookie about him.”
