The Senate approves the Jews’ Resolution of the Senate 1 which orders the Commission on Energy and Energy Projects to carry out an exhaustive investigation into the award of the contract between the Electricity Authority (AEE) and LUMA Energy, LLC.

The Resolution in its statement of reasons explains that “in order to guarantee a fair and transparent negotiation for the People of Puerto Rico, we consider that research is underway into the contract between the Electricity Authority and LUMA Energy, LLC. The Puerto Rican Senate needs to evaluate the contracting process raised by the company, the impact of the agreement, its impact on the rights of the public corporation employees, as well as the possible effect on the market, and on the corporation’s finances and billing for service to consumers. If necessary, the investigation should consider the viability and effects of changing or canceling the contract ”.
For his part, Victoria Ciudadana (MVC) Movement Senator Rafael Bernabe points out that the LUMA contract included has been targeted by individuals in favor of privatization. “Nosotros estamos is a favor, because it is an investigation into fundo, and we have the potential to revoke this contract. It must be our perspective and objective. We favor this Resolution as part of the review of this contract that is honorable for the people of Puerto Rico, ”added Bernabe.
While on duty, Independent Senator José Vargas Vidot indicated that the investigation is a positive step forward. Manifesto that the theme of which to investigate does not exclude other possibilities and the complexity of the process should not disallow the sagacious ownership of taxation.
