And when it comes to what we should do about it, we must remember: generations of Americans have promised to protect Taiwan. And the signal is understood by our allies, not only our allies in the Indian Pacific, but also our allies worldwide. The Biden government needs to send more messages of support to Taiwan and to our allies who will stand with us against China and their aggression. Look, if you look at what’s happening to China, how they invade the South China Sea, if they move in and take Taiwan, if they take away the freedoms of Hong Kong, if you look at what it is doing to the Tibetans, that they are the Eyes do, if you look at how they try to practice debt diplomacy around the world … what are they trying to do?
