Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Called on President Biden to reinstate three Trump-era border policies as critics accused the Biden government of inviting illegal immigration through its policies.

He called on Biden to extend public health exclusion to all migrants, including minors, and to revive “Stay in Mexico” policies and “safe third country” agreements with countries like Guatemala.

In February, the U.S. began allowing migrants who were in Mexico awaiting the settlement of their immigration cases, which are part of the Biden administration that includes Trump-era protocols, including “Stay in Mexico.”
Cotton mentions another policy, secure agreements across third countries.
“The so-called safe third country agreement with countries like Guatemala that says that if you are going through a country that is not your own, you must file the asylum claim in the first country you are going through. Customs and border protection encountered 100,441 individuals in February, an increase of 28% over January, the agency said. Of these, 19,246 were individuals in family units, 9,457 unaccompanied children and 71,598 singles.
