Get ready to embark on another Zoom season.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association on Wednesday announced nominations for the 2021 Golden Globe Awards, which officially announce the awards season. The first ceremony for Globes will be broadcast on February 28 from both coasts.

The nominations, which honor the best shows and productions in film and television in 2020 – the year we needed entertainment more than ever – will be announced by previous winners, Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson, at 08:36 via live stream announced.

The Golden Globes are presented by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and will be broadcast on Sunday 28 February. The Globes, which airs on NBC, are usually held on the first Sunday of the year, but have been pushed back amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. .

This year is also the first time for the ceremony to be broadcast from two different coasts – rather than Beverly Hills, California, where it is usually held. Fey will host from the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center in New York, while Poehler will be at the usual venue, the Beverly Hilton.

The nods in the main categories are a big sign of what will come later for the Oscars, although there will be a much bigger gap between ceremonies this year. The 2021 Oscars, which are usually held in February, have been postponed until Sunday 25 April in the hope that theaters would reopen so that more films would be eligible. Instead, it changed rules, making only streaming movies eligible for the first time ever.

While the Globes’ performance format is still unknown, the Oscar ceremony will definitely be a ‘personal’ affair at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, the Academy stated in December.

This year, Globes is the fourth time that Fey (50) and Poehler (49) will share hosting duties together. The pair previously played host to the Globes from 2013 to 2015, although this is the first time the former SNL teammates have done so in a pandemic and on both sides of the country.

Jane Fonda, 83, will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 78th Annual Ceremony, the highest honor given to an “individual who made an incredible impact” in the film. Norman Lear, 98, will take home the Carol Burnett Award for his iconic contributions to television history.
