In a message to The Section 2 fans, Ubisoft said that there will be additional content to the game this year. Originally, title update 12 was the last major content update for The Section 2.
The news gave little detail about what the new content would entail, or how big the update would be. The means for the development of The Section 2 arose allegedly due to the resounding support for the game over the years.

When The division first released in 2016, it ran about three years earlier The Section 2, its acclaimed successor, which was launched in 2019.
