Seattle Seahawks exchange for Gabe Jackson, sign Gerald Everett

SEATTLE – The Seattle Seahawks acquire guard Gabe Jackson of the Las Vegas Raiders for a fifth round in 2021, sources told Adam Schefter and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

The Seahawks also agreed to a one-year deal with former Los Angeles Rams team-mate Gerald Everett.

Their deal with Jackson gives them an upgrade along the offensive line, something Russell Wilson said he wanted when he expressed his frustrations with the organization in public after the season.

In Everett, Wilson gets another weapon in the passing game to go along with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Everett’s value for one year is $ 7 million, with $ 6 million fully guaranteed, a source told Schefter.

The Seahawks were close to signing Kevin Zeitler, according to Fowler, before selecting the Baltimore Ravens. That would have reunited Wilson with his college team in Wisconsin.

The 29-year-old Jackson has spent his entire career with the Raiders, both left and right. Seattle started the week with a left guard and center, with Mike Iupati retiring and Ethan Pocic becoming an unrestricted free agent. Seahawks tackle Duane Brown and right-hander Brandon Shell under contract for another season, while right-back Damien Lewis has three more years left.

By giving up their fifth round for Jackson, Seattle has just three choices in this year’s draft: a second, fourth and seventh.

Everett will reunite with the new offensive coordinator of Seahawks, Shane Waldron, who has been with the Rams all four of Everett’s NFL seasons. Waldron was his position coach during Everett’s rookie season, after the Rams drafted him in the second round from South Alabama.

Everett, who turns 27 on June 25, had a best season in his career, allowing him 41 passes for 417 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for a 2-yard score. In a week 5 route of the Washington soccer team, Everett caught four passes for a season-high 90 yards.

During the 2019 season, Everett had a breakout performance in a Week 5 loss to the Seahawks, in which he scored seven passes for a career-high 136 yards. It was his only performance on the 100 meters he received with the Rams.

Everett mostly serves as a backup for Tyler Higbee, picking up 127 passes for 1,389 yards and eight touchdowns in 61 games, including 11 starts.

At the end of the team, the Seahawks had to retire with Greg Olsen. Jacob Hollister and Luke Willson are free agents. Everett will join a tight-knit group that also has Will Dissly, Colby Parkinson, the fourth round of 2020, and the untapped newcomer Tyler Mabry in 2020.

Everett is Seattle’s second addition since the negotiating window opened Monday, after cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon, who also signed a one-year deal.

Information about ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry was used in this report.
