A freshman from Louisiana State University is missing after her car was found abandoned next to the bridge, officials said.
Kori Gauthier, 18, an Opelousas head of education, worried her family when she did not show up for classes, work or a doctor’s appointment on Wednesday – after learning that her empty car had caused an accident, the lawyer reported.
Devin Jones, the motorist who found Gauthier’s parked car on the Mississippi River bridge, said the collision became inevitable when another driver cut him off on the bridge, reports the news station KATC.

“The car in front of me swerved and cut lanes, all I saw was a parked car,” Jones said, adding, “It was either the car or an 18-wheeler.”

Jones said Gauthier’s car was empty, but police found her phone and wallet inside, the store reported.
No disturbance is suspected in her disappearance at the moment, police said.
Rescuers searched a target area in the Mississippi River on Saturday as they continued searching for the missing student.
