Sealed box of Pokémon cards sold for $ 408,000

As the great Nute Gunray once said, it’s getting out of hand.

As more and more people are realizing the value in the old days Pokémon cards, more and more people are flocking to opportunities to catch, if not all, then at least once worth a ton of money.

Which probably explains why (via Polygon), at a recent auction, a sealed box of first edition cards sold from 1999 for $ 408 000.

It’s a very money, but as Heritage Auctions show in describing the sale, the box will contain a first edition Charizard, one of which recently amounted to $ 350,000 on its own. If this contains one of the subjects, it would be a great investment! If that does not happen, if you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on Pokémon cards, you will survive.

I remember I wrote about a first issue that sold for $ 56,000 at auction in 2018, and it was crazy, and this – for many reasons, just some of them Pokémon-related – feels like it was 100 years ago.

Heritage Auctions filmed the bid if you can see someone spending $ 408,000 on some Pokémon cards.
